IO Psychology practitioners work in a variety of roles within organizations. While the job titles and daily tasks vary, the skills and expertise that IO practitioners bring to the work are invaluable to organizations. At UMD, we support our students and alumni along their career journey throughout the program through coursework, mentoring, and networking opportunities. In addition to this, the campus has opportunities to build your network and realize your full career potential.

UMD Terrapins Connect: Terrapins Connect is the University's virtual platform with the goal of connecting Terps from across the world with one another for mentoring, networking and professional opportunities. We have created a dedicated group for IO MPS students and alumni within Terrapins Connect: UMD Industrial Organizational Psychology Network. This is a space for UMD IO MPS community members to directly post, message group members, network, share job listings, and more. We plan to build this out as the hub of our IO Community network, and are very excited about the possibilities that this group offers. 

UMD Career center: The University Career Center & The President’s Promise exists to empower all University of Maryland students to realize their full career potential. As the campus experts in career education, we provide comprehensive resources, programs and services to a wide range of constituents, including students and alumni, parents and families, employers, and faculty and staff.

UMD Handshake: UMD's Career Center's online career management platform for University of Maryland students and alumni. Handshake can be accessed online or through the app.

 

IO Community Networking: 

 

Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship: The UMD Dingman Center is an award-winning hub for entrepreneurship that is committed to creating an equitable and inclusive community to educate, empower and equip students with the business skills needed to be an entrepreneur and the resources necessary to make their business ideas a reality. Services are available to UMD alumni as well, including advising, mentoring, alumni networks, and initiatives for those interested in entrepreneurship.
