Congratulations to our Deputy Director and Faculty member, Dr. Ken Yusko, on his SIOP Fellowship!
To earn a SIOP fellowship, individuals typically need to demonstrate:
- Outstanding research that has advanced the field of I-O psychology.
- Contributions to professional practice, such as improving workplace practices or policies.
- Service to the field through leadership roles in organizations like SIOP, or through mentoring and teaching the next generation of I-O psychologists.
Being named a SIOP Fellow is a recognition of a career of excellence and significant impact in the field.
Dr. Ken Yusko is currently the Deputy Director of the University of Maryland Industrial and Organizational Psychology MPS program where he has taught classes on employee selection, development and learning, and performance management both domestically and around the globe. Ken is also the co-founder of Siena Consulting, a human capital consulting firm. He earned his master's and doctoral degrees in Industrial and Organizational Psychology at the University of Maryland. His doctoral research on decision making in the workplace was funded through a grant from the National Science Foundation.
Ken is an expert in the design of personnel selection, development, and performance management systems. As a consultant in both the private and public sectors, he has worked with sports teams and leagues, Fortune 500 companies, small businesses, partnerships, consulting firms, and government agencies. His recent clients include Google, the United Nations, the National Football League, the National Basketball Association, SC Johnson, Merck, Morgan Stanley, the Cities of Dayton and Akron, the Jefferson County local government, and New York City Public Schools
Dr. Yusko frequently serves as an expert in employment litigation cases involving the design of court-approved/consent decree human resource interventions. He has authored multiple books, chapters, and articles on human resource and human capital management practices and is a frequent contributor on the topic of employee assessment and development to both trade and research outlets including Personnel Psychology and the SIOP-sponsored Frontiers book series. Ken is also a regular presenter at annual conferences such as SIOP, MIT Sports Analytics, and IPAC.
Dr. Yusko’s research interests focus on improving employee hiring and development outcomes, primarily through the creation of valid assessment instruments and systems that mitigate adverse impact. He has been honored with six of I/O psychology’s major awards in the past thirteen years, including the SIOP-SHRM HR Impact Award for developing Merck’s global flagship high potential development program, two SIOP M Scott Myers Awards for Outstanding Applied Research in the Workplace, and three International Personnel Assessment Council Innovation in Testing Awards.
